Privacy Policy
Effective September 3, 2026. This policy covers Yolked and complies with CalOPPA, the CCPA/CPRA, the GDPR, and Google Play's User Data policy.
1. Who we are
Yolked ("we", "us", "our") is a relationship compatibility app that lets you build a personal "yolk" — a profile of your values, personality traits, and compassion core — and compare it with others. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the Yolked mobile app and website (together, the "Service").
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a password (stored only as a secure hash), and your name.
Profile information. The details you choose to add to your yolk, such as your display name, bio, photo, relationship status, egg color, location label, and approximate location coordinates.
Assessment answers. Your selected values, personality dichotomy choices, and A.S.E.C. (compassion core) questionnaire answers, plus the compatibility scores we calculate from them.
Content you create. Messages you send to other users and the matches generated between you and other users.
Usage and device information. Log data such as device type, operating system, IP address, and how you interact with the Service, some of which we collect through cookies and similar technologies (Section 6).
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
• Create and maintain your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
• Build your yolk profile and calculate compatibility with other users.
• Connect you with matches, deliver messages, and send notifications and service emails (you can turn notification emails off in Settings).
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data only where we have a lawful basis:
• Contract: to provide your account, profile, matching, and messaging features.
• Consent: where you opt in to something specific, such as optional notifications. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
• Legitimate interests: to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and improve features, balanced against your interests and rights.
• Legal obligation: where retention or disclosure is required by law.
5. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:
• Service providers: trusted vendors who host the Service, store data, and deliver email on our behalf, under contract to process it only for us.
• Other users: the profile information you choose to publish (such as your display name, yolk details, bio, photo, and location label) is visible to other users, and messages are visible to their recipients. You can hide your yolk from discovery at any time in Settings.
• Legal authorities: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Yolked, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where possible.
6. Cookies and tracking, including Do Not Track
We use cookies and similar browser storage technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, though parts of the Service may not work without them.
CalOPPA disclosure: California law requires us to tell you how we respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. At this time, we do not track users across third-party websites and we do not respond to DNT browser signals, because no uniform industry standard yet exists.
7. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterwards only as long as necessary for backup, legal, or legitimate business purposes. If you delete your account, your yolk profile, matches, and messages are permanently deleted (Section 9).
8. Security and international transfers
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encryption in transit and at rest — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to support transfers of personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
9. Your California rights (CalOPPA & CCPA/CPRA)
Under the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), we post this policy conspicuously, describe the categories of information collected and how it is used and shared, and let you request changes to it.
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, California residents have the right to:
• Know: request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, purposes, and categories of third parties with whom it is shared.
• Delete: request deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions (you can also self-serve full deletion from Settings → Danger zone).
• Correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Opt out: direct us not to sell or share your personal information — you do not need to take any action because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• Non-discrimination: exercise these rights without being discriminated against, including through denial or degraded service.
To exercise these rights, contact us as described in Section 13. We will respond within the timeframes the law requires (45 days for CCPA requests, extendable by another 45 days where permitted, and we will inform you of the extension). For your protection, we may ask you to verify your identity before responding. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
10. Your European rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
• Access your personal data and receive a copy of it.
• Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erase your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention duties.
• Restrict or object to processing, including where we rely on legitimate interests.
• Data portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format, or have it sent to another provider where technically feasible.
• Withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent, without affecting prior processing.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us as described in Section 13. We will respond within one month, extendable by two further months where allowed for complex requests, and we will tell you if we need an extension.
11. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
12. Google Play (Android) data disclosures
This section provides the disclosures Google Play's User Data policy requires for the Android version of Yolked.
Data collected. The app collects: personal information (name, email address), photos (the profile photo you choose to upload), messages you send to other users, approximate location (the location label and coordinates you set for matching), and assessment answers used to calculate compatibility. All of this data is collected for app functionality — authentication, profile creation, matching, and messaging. Profile details, your photo, and your location label are visible to other users when you are discoverable; you can hide your yolk from discovery at any time in Settings.
Optional collection. Providing your profile photo, bio, and location is optional. A name, email address, and password are required to create an account, and the values, personality, and compassion assessments are required for matching.
Android permissions. The app requests access to photos/media (only when you choose a profile photo) and approximate location (only when you set your match location). We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location.
Encryption. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.
Data sharing. We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties for advertising or analytics. It is shared only as described in Section 5 (service providers, other users where you choose to publish, and legal authorities where required).
Data deletion. You can delete your account and all associated data (profile, matches, and messages) yourself in the app under Settings → Danger zone, or by visiting https://theyolkedapp.base44.app and requesting deletion through the Help page or by emailing Yolkedinfo@theyolkedapp.com. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.
Google Play services. The Android app may receive standard device and app information from Google Play services (such as your device's Android version and app version) needed to run and update the app. We do not collect the advertising ID or use your data for advertising.
13. Contact us and changes to this policy
If you have questions, requests, or complaints about this Privacy Policy or your personal information, contact us through the Help page of the Yolked app or at Yolkedinfo@theyolkedapp.com.
CalOPPA requires that you be able to request changes to this policy; you may request changes by contacting us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the Service and update the effective date below. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
Effective date: September 3, 2026.
